The Hungarian Association of Physics Students gladly announces that the Balaton Summer School in Physics will be organised this year again. Wide spectrum of topics will be covered on the physics of gravitational waves in four sections: general relativity, astrophysics, laser physics and on the physics of gravitational wave detectors. A poster session will be held for students eager to present their own research. The lecturers will be acknowledged researchers of the LIGO and the VIRGO collaboration. Professor Peter Saulson, former spokesman of LIGO will open the school and hold the first lecture.
It is a great opportunity to spend a week with approximately 80 physics students by Lake Balaton, the largest lake of Central Europe. The Summer School will be held at SiĆ³fok which is also known as the capital of Balaton and provides plenty of opportunity to have fun. We plan to host 40 hungarian and 40 foreigner students from all over the world therefore you will have the chance to meet and share your knowledge with a lot of new and awesome people who are also interested in physics. And while doing that you can enjoy a wonderful week at the hungarian sea.
The participation fee is 130 EUR that contains the accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner and local transport for the whole week. You can find more information about the accommodation on the website of the event.
The timetable is available on the website. Besides the lectures we will provide a lot of different programs such as scavenger hunt, beach party and a hungarian night to bring the hungarian culture and kitchen closer to you. There will also be an excursion day when you can choose from 3 different outdoor activities to participate.
